Hahahohohohaha. That was a good story. Definitely couldn’t turn out badly.
Anyhoo – here’s an update. The bean bin was seriously toddler crack. I hid it in the entryway so it was out of reach. But every day, without fail, Henry knocked on that front door demanding I bring out the bean bin.It was still a bit messy, but with just Henry playing, it was manageable. We played for many hours with this bin in the past month. It was, by far, the most popular activity we have at the house. But it was time to get rid of the beans. I was finding beans inside books, in the bathroom, in Henry’s diaper. (Not kidding.)
So Henry and I took out all the beans and added pom-poms, balls and blocks.
Less messy. Still fun.
Henry’s been loving scooping the pom-poms and putting them into his dump truck. And all the different sized balls are always winners.
Henry continues to enjoy the new and improved tub. And I can find other ways to fill my time than picking up dried beans.
Psych – just found another black bean on my computer keyboard.

This definitely seems like a much better improvement in the sensory department. I mean, heck, even I would be happy to play with a bucket of pom poms.

Yep, good call to swap out the beans. The first sensory bin I made Thomas had rice and flour in it…I had to move to get that shit out of my house 🙂

So fun and he is just so cute.
In Germany at my daughter’s occupational therapist had a huge tub filled with cherry pits that they would let her sit in to get used to different textures. She loved it and wanted one at home. Ha ahhh, no thanks! 😉

Good thing it wasn’t a rice bin! I like the pom pom idea- that sounds a little more manageable!

For real. We did a noodle bin. Awful idea. The dog decided she now eats uncooked noodles. So did the toddler. I mean, it was fun. We had lots of fun with it – scooping is a big hit at this age. But OMG the noodles. Everywhere. My Dad found one this past weekend and we hadn’t played with it in over a month…
I like the idea of pompoms. At least they’re not edible. And don’t LOOK edible. 🙂 We need to get Megan a dump truck to put things into!! She’s really into things on wheels right now.
