It’s October, friends. Which means PUMPKINS! Pumpkin carving, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin baking and, my favorite, pumpkin seeds.
Anyhow – to celebrate the month of the pumpkins, a few of my friends and I are hosting a PUMPKIN PARADE next week. We’ll be sharing our own pumpkin projects throughout the week and then YOU can link up on Friday, Oct. 11. We’ll all get to see tons of fun pumpkin projects and we’ll even spotlight a few of them. I hope you’ll join us.
Speaking of pumpkins … I feel strongly that pumpkins should be required in fall decor. Kim law. So, I thought I’d share how I use pumpkins and gourds in my table decor.
I picked up a few bags of small gourds at a local nursery. They were 3/$1.00. And I spent a lot of dollars. There is just something about tiny pumpkins and gourds that make me open my wallet. I NEED ALL OF THEM. I like to think of myself as an adoptive parent to all these beauties.
I love the variety of colors in the gourds. And I love that I can pull out some of my yellow servingware (from Target) – they go perfectly with my tablecloth (picked up on clearance at Crate & Barrel 4 years ago).
I also used a few more of the tree slices to create chargers. I have been wanting to do this FOR YEARS and finally had them to do it. I’m so happy with how the plates look elevated on the raw wood.
These yellow pattern plates (along with the Dwell Studio curtains) were the starting point for the dining room color scheme. I added the small tree slices on the top with chalkboard paint to serve as place cards. I just pretended like we would ever have a reason to need place cards.
I usually err on the “more is more” side of holiday decorating. This year, I have lots of decorations that haven’t seen the light of day. I’m busy. I’m lazy. I’m not feeling it. But I think I took out enough items to make our dining room look rather festive. (The GATHER letters were from Dare to DIY a few years ago.)
It’s feeling much more like fall around here.
I’m linking up to Serenity Now’s Weekend Linkup and the It’s Fall, Y’all Link Party today. Check out more table inspiration today.

It’s good of you to provide a home for those lonely gourds. Beautiful tablescape, friend! I always love seeing pics your dining room.

Oh my goodness, Kim. I LOVE the tree slice chargers. The whole table is so darling. I want to come have dinner at your house. 🙂
My hubby cut thick tree slices for the centerpieces at our wedding. I would have never thought to cut them thinner to use them for chargers, though. It’s genius and so super cute! Pinterest worthy, for sure. 🙂

Oh, Lordy…can’t wait for your party…I just put out gobs of pumpkins to cure the lack of Fall decor at my house. I am so jealous of your log slices…they are more than I want to pay to buy them in the stores or even on ebay. I love them so. I saw your great post over at “Centsational Girl” blog party.
