It’s Ryan’s birthday today, and I’m feeling a bit sentimental. As you likely know, we started dating when he was 18, which makes him … old. Okay. It makes both of us old.
There are a lot more than 30 things to love about my husband. I’m reminded of that every day. But, the fact that he’s 30 today means that I will share a few.
He’s funny, kind and insanely smart. (1, 2 and 3) He’s laid-back, but also a hard worker and self-motivated (4, 5 and 6). He’ll mow the lawn, change my oil and even vacuum (7, 8 and 9). His smile is contagious (10). He laughs easily and often (11 and 12). He has big dreams and makes plans to achieve them (13 and 14). He can fix just about anything (15). He doesn’t have to have the last word (16). He knows how to manage money (17). He’s a great driver (18). He doesn’t care what anyone thinks (19). He would rather do something himself than pay someone to do it (20). He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty (21). He’ll hang curtain rods for me, even though he hates it (22). He teaches himself anything his sets his mind to (23). He’s the best father Henry could ask for and a more wonderful dad to our son than I ever knew to hope for (24). He changes diapers like an old pro (25). He’s fun (26). He is a looker (27). He would do anything for his friends and family (28). He treats those around him with respect (29). He holds my hand (30).
Not a day goes by that I’m not reminded that I really got a good one.
Happy birthday, Ryan.

So nice. I know what you mean about feeling old, but trust me…you all are in the prime of your lives, and when Henry is 13 you’ll be around my age, and feel so young, and have so much freedom to even more fun things.

Also, I’d like to add #31: he brings Chick-Fil-A to his wifey and her friends, even if they ignore his 12 phone calls. (You should probably keep him)
