When I was planning the nursery, I knew I wanted it to include a sign by my fabulous friend Jen at Onion Grove Mercantile. Her signs are unique, creative and full of character. I hemmed and hawed about which type of sign I wanted. After I decided on her popular Locally Grown sign, I could hardly wait to see it in person.
Not only did she do an amazing job, she gave it to Henry and I as an incredibly generous gift and dropped it off the first day we were home from the hospital. I actually had it sitting in our living room for nearly a week so I could admire it. Then, Ryan installed it at the place of honor above the crib. I love it so much I can hardly stand it!
It’s truly one of my most prized pieces in the room. Which is saying a lot because I love everything in the nursery.
Speaking of, here’s a few initial views of the nursery. I plan to do a full post around Henry’s original due date (June 18) with all the details. Because he was an early arrival, there were quite a few things that were not completed when we brought him home. Some things have gotten done.
But, there are still a few unfinished pieces, like some pillows on the bed (which has been an oft-used item in the room), some artwork above the rocking chair and some overall organization and prettifying. But the major parts are completed and I’m happy with how it’s coming together.
But, back to the sign – I had to get a few photos of Henry and I with his beautiful hand-painted sign. After all, he IS locally grown, right?
He clearly loves it, too!

Oh wow Kim!! I love how it all came together!! It’s so cool 🙂 I have no doubt that Henry will love it as he gets older!! And as much as I love the big sign over the crib, I think my favorite art pieces are the Lola and Franco paintings – so awesome! 😉

That sign is perfect! I love the spot you chose for it above the crib. And what a cutie pie….Carter had that same outfit when he was Henry’s size and it makes me miss little babies. Snuggle him for me!

LOVE the sign! LOVE the nursery! And I’m sure Henry loves it too. The pug shelf is too cute. I totally saw the pug bookends at an antique shop last weekend! I was going to tell you about them, but it looks like you have them covered.

I love everything about this nursery. The handmade details make it so personal and special. I have some of Rocco’s baby (puppy) pictures that will be in the baby’s room, I love that you did that. I am crazy about the pug bookends!!!! I’d love to find some Maltese ones
