First, a few projects I’ve been working on in the nursery. While Ali was in town last weekend, we spent time cutting out pinwheels for a mobile while watching movies. It’s not all together yet, but I think it’s going to look great. More to come when it’s completed…
I also began the painstaking process of making and hanging curtains. So, I brought all my sewing gear up to the nursery to work so I don’t have to trek up and down the stairs. It’s a happy little workspace.
I expected to get them all done on Sunday. Mwahahaha…. I got everything cut and nearly finished one panel. I’ve never used blackout liner before, but I figured now was the time. It’s a little more time-consuming to finish the curtains with the liner but I figured a dark room is a happy room. Here’s the little sneak-peak of my curtains so far.
Speaking of nursery, a month or so ago, I started a list of nursery projects to complete. For those of you who are list-makers, you’ll get it. For those who aren’t, you’ll probably wonder why in the world I’d make a list like this. Won’t it stress me out?
So far, it’s been kind of nice to have an overall list of projects to work on. And I’m not so worried that something won’t get done. It’d be nice to knock off a bunch of things from the list, but I realize that I don’t have to do everything. But this gives me something to work towards.
So, here it is. I’ve marked off the things we’ve already done (my favorite part) and the things we’re working on right now. I’ll try to come back to this list later as we finish the nursery.

Also, there are a few home projects we’d like to wrap up before baby joins us. So, when spring hits us, we hope to have most of the big nursery projects completed so we can tie up some of these loose-ends. By this point, I’m fairly certain Ryan will be on his own. (Like that’s anything new.) Most are small projects, but there are a few larger outside projects that we put off to this year.
Other home projects before babyShelves in kitchen
Glass shelves in living room hutchOpening for fireplace covered
Porches cleaned up/painted/new railings

I’m feeling excited to get all these projects done already. Can’t wait to get started. But for now, I’d better take a quick nap on the couch.
Any other list-makers out there?

Okay I maybe biased but I am loving those pinwheels. And Carter loves his so I know Baby Woodward will be a fan as well. I am also loving the list…I am so impressed you have so much done on it. Our list was three miles long until the last month when it hit me we were really having a baby…and soon. Nothing like a little procrastination.

Love the big map on the wall and I can’t wait to see more photos of the pinwheel mobile (so cute!), the curtains, the rest of the room. Oh and the quilt you are planning on making!!! 😀

This list is SO smart! Such great ideas too. Can’t wait to see it all!

I’m seriously loving the pinwheel mobile! Especially since you incorporated houndstooth paper into it! It’s going to compliment your curtains and your quilt so well! Everything is looking so great! I can’t wait to see the lined curtains! I have dark chocolate curtains in the nursery that I used with Joseph, but I never got around to lining them with black out fabric. That’s on my to do list this time around.
Your list is looking a lot like my list right now… fortunately, I’m not in my first year of teaching this time around and am more likely to have things finished more than two days before I have the baby… *ahem* Mrs. 5C. (-.-)
I’m so glad you and Ryan had fun figuring out the date of your fabulous pull down map. When I first bought my globes, I had a lot of fun doing that too. Of course, I can’t remember the exact dates now… but that just means I get to have fun looking it up again! (I’m such a geek…)
And I enjoy being the history teach on call! 😉

I’m looking forward to seeing the finished mobile.
I’m a list-maker too. When I was in the final months of planning our wedding last year I had like 5 lists going at once. I found it helpful to put the most important things on the top of the list. I didn’t get to everything on the lists but they were little things that didn’t make that much of a difference. I’m sure you’ll get everything crossed of your lists though!
Leigh says
I love a good list or 5. I especially like to break one long list into subsections like you did. (Nerd alart!) This might be super dorky, but what system do you use for tracking your lists- like are they all on scraps of paper, one cute notebook or have you found a great ap? I really like the single “list notebook” idea but generally it ends on random scraps, going digital would be ok but I can’t find an (free) ap that I like. Big issues I have going on here, I know 🙂

Those curtains are wonderful!
I’m a list maker too and I love the feeling of satisfaction when I have stuff crossed off!
Nicole @My Thrafty Life says
You have your work cut out for you, but you will totally rock it out. I am a list maker too, and I totally get it. I almost feel like I have to unload my mind on a piece of paper, de-mind cluttering if you will 🙂
Mrs. 5C says
Caroline made a list like that. Practically ON her due date. God laughed and Joseph showed up like 2 days later. 😉
Fortunately, you’ve got a head start!! I make lists like that but they stay in my head because it’s easier to forget & fudge things in my head. 🙂
I LOVE that curtain fabric. And if it makes you feel better about the slowness of curtain creation… I’m not being perfect with my seams, and the blackout fabric is only hemmed along the top of our curtains. It’s loose everywhere else because I just don’t care. 😉 I’m sure your sewing is far higher quality.

haha, oh lists. We had our Big Azz ToDo list hanging over our heads and 4 months to get everything done. JEGs still says the best motivator to get stuff done was having a baby.
I used to have a list hanging in each room of things I wanted to get done. It felt so satisfying every time I got to cross something off.

As a fellow list maker, I can relate. I love everything you picked out so far! I’m pinning those fabric baskets right now – what a great tutorial!
Mindy@FSLblog says
I can’t wait to see what you do with the pinwheels!!!
Ashley@AttemptsAtDomestication says
Wow! You’ve got a lot going on! But I’m one of those people that likes to function with a list as well, so I understand wanting to write EVERYTHING done and working towards a goal.
Deb says
You sure are going to be busy!! Love the curtains 🙂 and I am a list maker extraordinaire. I just have the problem of crossing one thing off and adding five more 😉

I love how the nursery is coming together!
I think the blackout liner was a wise choice–we only have thin sheers for Lizzy and I’ve been thinking about going to get something that blacks it out for awhile now!
Cindy @The Flipping Couple says
I love a good list. I try to keep 10 or 12 of them going at all times for mass chaos potential.
Love the curtains. That fabric was such a great choice!
Mrs. Dirnberger says
I a, tired from just looking at your lists. But I make them too!!!! Congrats
Emily says
Fabulous list. The curtains will fly by now that you’ve got them cut – the cuttings the worst part (which is why I haven’t started on T’s roman shades yet…whoooops.)
Love the pinwheel mobile! And so funny – I had intended to use a trunk for a table in T’s room – now that’s up in the air because of a tricky vent placement, but I still really want that look.
Emily @ thirtyeight20 says
Atta girl! Get it all done now! Even if you do have the time afterward, you probably will just want to spend it all with baby W!
I only have 1 cover for our changing pad, and that’s surprisingly been just fine — 2 would be good but 3 is overkill in my opinion. (For really messy diapers I put a burp rag under her just in case… and for REALLY REALLY messy diapers, she goes into the bathtub!!) I do recommend 2 boppy covers though, if you plan to use it for nursing! Minky fabric highly recommended… your baby will spend LOTS of time with his soft little cheek against it.
Can’t wait to see all your fabric choices come together. Gonna be awesome.
Liz @ It's Great To Be Home says
I like to make lists and then ignore them. 🙂 It looks like your curtains are turning out GREAT!! I made mine last week but still have a few steps to complete – I seem to have a hard time actually finishing projects, sigh. 🙂 Good luck with all of yours!!

You never cease to amazing me… I’m LOVING your progress although lets be honest I’ve had NONE. Unless you call moving my crap out of the nursery.
I can’t wait to see the mobile the paper you picked is adorable!

Wow you will be busy, but I guess that will help the time pass!
