Our dogs are such a riot. It’s almost embarrassing how much we love them and spoil them. So, here’s a little pug update for you other dog lovers out there.
The snuggle pugs love to hang out on this chair – with or without us. It also happens to be the chair nearest to the fireplace for extra warmth. No coincidence there.
Franco has been fitted with a bark collar. He goes on these crazy barking sprees, and we really want to curb this before we have a newborn in the household. Neither of us were keen on the idea of the bark collar and have been putting it off, but we were at our wits’ ends and were tired of chasing him around when he was barking up a storm. We tried the citronella spray collar first. It worked – for a day. Then, Franco decided he didn’t really mind being sprayed and our entire house smelled like a bug bomb. Also – he had an uncanny ability to spray at the precise right time to get Ryan square in the face.
So, we took it back and went with a more traditional buzz collar. It seems to be working for him, although we feel terrible when he gets buzzed. (The collar self-adjusts, so the first time he barks, he gets a little warning and the severity increases from there.) After a few days, he realized that barking wasn’t really a necessity. He has developed a bit of a low raspy bark that doesn’t get caught by the sensor. Luckily, it’s so soft that we don’t mind it at all. We rarely need to put the collar on him now, after a few weeks.
Lola must be having sympathy pregnancy symptoms for her mommy. Mostly, the hunger. She usually gets fed around 2:30 or 3. If we are home on the weekends, she begins to get whiny about food at 12:30 or so. Her and I have a lot in common these days. We’re also partial to naps on the couch and bouts of moodiness when we don’t get what we want.
While Ryan was taking my weekly pregnancy photo last week, Lola and Franco wanted in the action. Here are the results.
All my babies at 18 weeks. These pictures make me laugh so much.
We keep telling the pugs that they will have a little brother or sister soon, but I don’t think they quite understand. When I took the infant car seat up to the nursery, the dogs were so confused. They were sniffing and Lola was trying to get into the seat. Little do they know…

You shot get a shot of Lola in the car seat. I bet her future sib would love that one day. Chester is a bit of a barker/howler. It happens mostly outside and got worst when we moved. John wants to get him the bark collar but I feel bad. Maybe…

The pugs are just too cute! I love the picture of them sitting on the chair and then the picture of Lola just looking up at the camera giving her puppy dog eyes! Love the pictures and the post:)

Aw, they’re too cute! I love the last pic. We have a pic like that, but Jack is licking my face (something I don’t particularly car for).

I want to squeeze their cheeks!
The dog barking/baby thing is interesting. Nate’s sister’s dog has the most annoying high pitched bark…and barks a lot. Her babies don’t move a muscle when he barks….Ike barks…the babies go crazy. I guess they get used to it in the womb!

SO stinkin’ adorable! Aren’t animals the best!?

Love the pug photos! So sweet that they sit together on the chair ๐ I bet they’ll do great with Baby W, once they meet. My fur babies are good, they’re cats, but one is bigger than your pugs!

Awww! Too cute! My husband grew up around pugs..they are so sweet!

Haha! Those little spoiled pups will be in for a bit of a surprise when the baby comes, but I’m sure they’ll adjust rather quickly.

It’s ok, Joseph doesn’t quite understand yet either… But he will!
The 18 weeks pictures with the pugs are quite hilarious! I’m still snorting a little!

Ahh your Lola knows what’s going on! My pug Roxy is a momma’s girl and sits in my lap. The first time she felt the baby move she got up looked at me and then started barking at my belly. Then got her self comfortable in the same spot again. Since then she always has her head on my stomach. I think she hears the movement and likes the movements now.
Good Luck!

To cute! I love pugs, their smooshed faces make me melt!
Our Lola girl {Boston Terrier} is doing well, she especially loves ‘movie nights’ because she knows thats when we drag out the big fuzzy blanket and she loves snuggling in that thing! :0)

“and Lola was trying to get into the seat” …. Thanks for the morning laugh Kim!

our pug, Willow, is awesome. She just got a new bed and I am not quite who was more excited about it. Her or our son. Willow sometimes go into barking fits. I think Tristan got used to it in the womb because he would not wake after he was born and she barked. She was fine with him when we brought him home. Curious, but great. Now they are the best of friends.

SO CUTE. Our dogs do the same thing on weekends (or if I’m working from home). They usually eat at 4pm, but on the weekends they’re pretty sure they’re starving at 1.
We’ve toyed with the idea of trying a bark collar on Beemer. I think if we had a baby on the way it’d be non-negotiable. Dude thinks it’s cool to bark at EVERYTHING and his bark is crazy loud. So glad it’s working for Franco!
Amanda @ Serenity Now says
Oh, they are so cute!! Love the “baby” shots. Our dogs couldn’t understand the whole baby seat either, and our old dachshund would try to get in and nap under the blankets. They might be a little jealous at first, but I bet they will grow to love and dote on Baby W!

You have a car seat already? Now I feel like a baby-gear slacker!

Your pugs are too cute! Our “middle child” Ellie wears a shock collar too- we definitely gave the citronella collar a fighting chance, but she figured out how to bark between sprays. We finally broke down and bought the shock collar and she definitely respects it- that warning buzz is all it takes to make her quiet.

This was a terrfic way to start my morning Kim. I can’t wait to see the actual weekly posts of you! I love you angel!

I hope the dogs adjust to having a baby in the house. We had cats when I brought our first home from the hospital. One adapted and one did not. He kept hissing at the baby and I was worried he’d attack if I left them alone in the same room. After six months of this, we found him a new home with an older single woman. I felt horrible doing it.

They are so cute! Rocco wishes we had a fireplace! He pulls his bed to wherever the sun is coming through the windows and moves it as the day goes by. I bet we can figure out the time if we study his positioning long enough lol! Like a fuzzy sundial.
