Operation: junk drawer

January 21, 2011 by Kim Woodward

Woodward news alert: Ryan and I are anxiously awaiting a Bears win on Sunday. Super Bowl? Yes, please. Ryan’s lucky enough to see the game in person at Soldier Field (along with last weekend’s Bears playoff game). I’m moderately jealous. Okay, I’m really jealous. But, I just wanted you to know that having our team get this far is super exciting. Bear down, friends! Bear down!

In other news, it’s time for week three of Jenny at Words on Wendhurt’s 111 things in 1/11. If you were around last week, you know that I met my goal of 111 items last week.

This week, I didn’t have a lot of down time, so I only tackled on drawer. But, it was the infamous JUNK DRAWER.

You probably have a home where everything goes in its place. A junk drawer is a foreign concept. At the Woodwards, it’s where all the crap goes when I don’t want it on the counter.  3 rolls of tape. 6 Sharpies. Breath mints. 4 calculators…

So, this is what happens when everything you don’t want to deal with goes in one drawer. Chaos.

But, after approximately 8 minutes, I had this…

Now only things that actually belong in the miscellaneous drawer are there. No more junk. I just trashed or redirected all of the other items. And I ended up with a few things to donate.

1 roll of polka dot ribbon
1 pack of hooks
1 pocket calendar
5 suction hooks

for a total of 8 items this week.

Did you purge anything this week?

Go check out more purgers at Words on Wendhurst.

I am thankful that I don’t have enough drawers in my kitchen for a junk drawer… my desks aren’t s lucky. I need to do the 111 things again before January passes me by.

i got rid of 50 articles of clothing yesterday! – including 35 shirts, some shorts, pants, pjs, etc. i’d been collecting them in a bag for a while and threw them in at a yard sale and donated the rest. yippee!!

Ahh, much better! A quick fix that makes a world of difference! We need to do this with several of our junk drawers.

BTW, we’ll be watching the playoffs tomorrow (even though our Chiefs lost a couple weeks ago…boo). But I’m excited for you! 🙂

For a second I thought the red dot ribbon were undies- the thoughts in my head(in order) “Is that underwear? Why does Kim keep underwear in the junk drawer? Why is Kim showing us her underwear? It is cute though”.

I’m totally “a place for everything” girl, but since moving we have two junk rooms. I hate it!

I’m a Colts fan, so I’ve been out for two weeks now. I’m totally pulling for the Bears though.

Funny — that’s exactly what my junk drawer looks like right now (your “before” picture) and I was just thinking how I need to take the 5 minutes to clean the silly thing out 🙂

Can I have a moment of silence for my fair Eagles?

Damn that end zone interception. Whomp whomp.

I think we might have to be enemies for the weekend? As a former Wisconsinite, I pretty much HAVE to cheer for the packers.

But we can be friends again on Monday… right? 🙂

Looks awesome!!!!! Tell me about those boxes, please. I tried to change the name of my junk drawer once to the “everything drawer”. It didn’t work.

I need to get my act together and keep going through stuff! Ugh, the junk drawer would be a great place to start…

Every week I keep meaning to jump on the purging bandwagon and every week I forget. *sigh*

I definitely have a junk drawer. And I have no idea what’s in it because it’s too hard to open and close because it’s too full of….junk. Oops.

Yes, I too have junk drawers. Lover hates them. 🙂 On a separate note, we are totally psyched about this weekend as well, but we are Packers fans. So obviously, I can’t wish your Bears well! But I’ll look for Ryan on TV. 😉

    Kim,

I love that you love football. Another reason why we’re made for one another. I’ll be watching this weekend with the hubs! Houston Texans all the way next year! (A girl can dream.)

    Much love!
