This is such a simple and quick project, and it makes a great gift for any photographer, professional or otherwise. When I read through the tutorial on Skip to my Lou, I knew I could do it. So, I decided to try it for Ryan’s aunt, who planned our getaway to St. Louis a few weeks back and had a naked dSLR camera strap – the shame. ๐
Naked no more.
Instead of using only two fabrics, I pulled out a charm pack that I had in the craft closet. The 5-inch squares are PERFECT, as the strap is just about 2 inches. So, once you factor in seam allowances, you are good to go. I just sewed them together, quilted them with fusible fleece interfacing on the seams, folded it in half and “ta-da.”
That’s about as close as I get to a tutorial. ๐
I think it turned out cute and have visions of lots more of these for (who else?) myself. I mean, a lady has to have a strap to go with all the seasons, right?
What do you think?

Love this….I was thinking about giving my camera strap a makeover before heading to Italy. But all the fabrics I loved were deemed too “girly” so I went with a boring old black one. But now that we are back in the states and the camera is officially mine again, this has gotten added to the to-do list. I love the combo of colors!

You know how you meet someone who’s really good at one thing -like sewing for example? And you’re in awe of their talents and all but jealousy doesn’t really set in because they’re normal in all other areas? Well, you, my friend, are a really good at LOTS of things. So consider me a green eyed jealous monster.
You did a fabulous job, and every camera strap needs a little bling.

I love the fabric! The scrolly middle one in purples, orange, etc. is my favorite. I think you should make yourself a Christmas themed one, a garden one (for summer) and puppies for the rest of the year.

It’s cute! I am embarassed for my naked camera strap but since I “share” the camera with John, I’d need some non-girly fabric. I’m not sure how he feels about zebra. Maybe something in pizza-stain?

Very pretty I love the patterned fabric you used!
