Speaking of junk…
Ryan and I took a little excursion last Saturday (in pursuit of a Craigslist find… although that didn’t work out). On our way home, we stopped by Barnyard Antiques (first mentioned here).
While we didn’t bring anything home with us this time, I did take a few photos to share what I would do with this “junk.” Please play along and share any links or things you would do with the junk below.
Chairs.
Unfortunately, these chairs were stacked in the barn and hard to even get to. However, I can see some of these pretties painted up like my office chair. Cheap chairs… just the ticket.
Sleds
I believe that every household needs a sled. Not just for sledding, but also for fun holiday decor. I know what you are thinking, “Kim…. it’s June. I’m not thinking about Christmas.” And, to that I say… Look at my sled decor last Christmas. You need one. (And at least 12 trees while you’re at it.)
Jugs
I know you can get super creative with these. I painted one and put it outside. It’d also make a good umbrella holder for an entry.
Wash basins.
This is totally on my “to-buy” list. I’d love to have some of these around the garden as pots, like Robin’s. (I just love Robin’s gardening skills, period. Check it out.) And, I love how Jen kept the tub on the original stand. Great for height in the garden. And, she painted it. I love me some fresh paint.
Ladders.
We actually have an old wooden ladder in the garage. I’ve forced Ryan to keep it for when I use it. 3 years after buying the house, it’s still there. I’d love to use it in the bathroom for towels, or to hang blankets and quilts. Or as a great potholder in a farmhouse kitchen. Katie made a great plant stand out of her ladder.
And friends…. these are just a few things that caught my eye. There was lots, lots more. (Do you spot the vintage yard chairs like ours?)
And, as a finale – I’m really hoping my hubby can make me something like this for the garden.
I think climbing flowers up the window would be adorable, and add some much-needed height. (And, it looks like the base was an old sewing machine table, doesn’t it?)

I want one of everything! The ladders, jugs and chairs oh my!
But I better get to work on the 12 projects waiting for me in the attic before I get more junk huh?

wow I wish this place was in my neck of the woods, many tempting items!

I seriously wish I had your creativity!
I would just drive right past that place, but if all of that was in your yard (looking all awesome like you would make it) i’d probably skid to a stop to admire it all.

Wow- that is a lot of stuff. I’d love to use a bunch of those chairs. I wash bins would be great fabric storage and of course I’d love to put one in the laundry room.

Kind of reminded me of my recent salvage exploration… in my back yard! 😉 I guess free junk is better than having to pay for it! You’re very disciplined to have walked away empty handed!

I love those wash basins! When I saw them it made me think of this- http://www.marthastewart.com/article/stick-on-stars?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/patriotic-crafts#slide_4
I wouldn’t have been able to resist….I would have taken at least one thing home. I have no will power.

That’s a whole lotta chair! Have you seen the new show on History channel called American Pickers? I think you’d like it… 😉

Oh wow. That looks like a cool place. I’m in awe over that large pile of chairs!

that’s some impressive junk! how does one even collect that many chairs?? fun to see tho!
we have a place like that near here – it’s a salvage place that these old men have owned for yeeeeears.. everything is in piles covered by tarps. i’m sure i could find some steals there, but honestly, it’s a little too intimidating!

I want to find places like that… I always end up finding the WAY overpriced thrift/junk stores. Come to ATL and find them with me, please & thank you 🙂

Oh my… I’d have definitely taken home the metal pots for planting, and perhaps a milk jug.
The wooden ladders would also be great for making a really cute pot rack. Hang it from the ceiling with some S hooks. Or, perhaps in the garage as a suspended tool hanger for Ryan?

This looks like junk yard heaven! I would love to dig through those chairs and I would take one of those milk jugs home!! Hope Ryan makes you one of those window boxes for your garden…it would look awesome! So glad you shared it with us! Wish I lived closer 🙂

O wow! I would love to take some of those chairs and do all different ones around my dining room table! What an awesome place! I wish that was near me!

Oooooh I love junk :o) seriously drooling over those sleds I need ALL of them for my holiday decor ok fine maybe just one or two… (insert sad face) since at the moment we live in Texas sleds are like a silly joke I bet I couldn’t find one if I wanted… you ready for a Mrs. Adventure house guest?
Jen@Notes From the Heartland says
YOU.MUST.TELL.ME.WHERE.THIS.PLACE.IS!!! Holy junkin’! The chairs….I’ve always wanted one of those dining rooms where each chair is unique….all painted in the same tones, but each one a bit different. As for the sleds…I’ve got two, but could really use more for inside decorating! How cute would it be to paint one with your house numbers, you know so Santa can find you! Same with the milk jugs…SOOO cute in the garden with house numbers…or with a compass painted on….or use as little seats with a cushion on top. You already know how I feel about washtubs…I’d buy a hundred. The ladders..LOVE THEM…I’d put one in every room. Love the patina. AND for the last photo…the FIRST thing that caught my eye was that chair!!! Soul sister. 😉

Wait. How did you not bring anything home? That junk’s got your name written all over it. Although I swear Anthro had a window display that used the giant pile of chairs themselves. Your junk guy is either ahead of his time or a big Anthro fan.
I like the jugs best. In fact, they are now on my to-find list.

Looking at all of this stuff in pictures made me giddy. I can’t imagine how excited you were in person.
Those jugs and silver wash buckets so would have come home with me! Well at least a couple.
