I’ve been talking about putting panels in our office/craft room since December.
I finally did it. And, I think I love it.
And, did I mention all four panels and the rods cost under $25?
Not bad, huh?
All curtains are made from one large drop cloth. I’m just one of many who have discovered the ease of using drop cloths. I first saw curtains from drop cloths at Layla’s.ย
I found the rods hidden in the corner of the store for….. $7 each. Cheap! They were originally $56 each. I was so excited that I may have let out a squeal. In the store. And, before I left, everyone else had discovered them, too.ย
The drop cloth came with the cloth I cut the tree skirt from here. Four panels came from one drop cloth. And, they happened to be the perfect length for the wall. I just sewed the top to make a pocket for a rod and hemmed the cut side.
I think the texture is really great.
Here’s what the windows looked like before:
And, now.
Better, right?

Looks so finished now. Good work. I was thinking of doing the same in our den, but I think the color might be too close to the wall color. But ribbon could help with that!

I love the extra layer on those windows. I have my eye on some drop clothes for an outdoor project this spring and hope it turns out as well as yours. And are those some seeds I see in the corner??

I also loved the ‘before’ because your window trim is so lovely, and your shades are very classy. But, I’m a curtain lover and for that reason, I’m in!

Girl, I’m going against the grain here and saying I liked it better before the panels! Oh-well! They look good still. : )

Love it, especially the texture! I don’t think anyone would ever know they were made from a drop cloth.
Amanda @ Serenity Now says
Yay!! They turned out great. I was thinking it was just my window, but I think adding the new rod and using the shade makes the window larger! Great job. ๐

Love it! It adds great texture and goes well with your wall color. Looks very cottage-y. I thought seriously about doing this in our living room, but we decided to go sans curtains at least for now. I even bought a drop cloth to get started. It is now being used as a sort of impromptu, casual cover on an IKEA klippan sofa in our little living room reading corner. It looks like an artists lives there and kinda goes with the whole rustic thing we’ve got going. All that to say: I’m a big fan of cheap drop cloths as decor! You did a great job.

Wow.. the curtians really give the windows some definition! They look great!
When I first moved into my apartment I was on the hunt for the perfect curtians for my great room. I grabbed some panels from Target that were $7 each as something to just hold me over. After I put them up, I loved them so much that I stopped looking!
Sometimes the cheapest things are the best!

Looks fabulous! Love those rods! I’m about to tackle the windows in my house… lots of windows!

That texture works perfectly in there, I love em. And I love $7 curtain rods even more. That’s one of my biggest peeves, paying a lot for rods. Total score Kim!
Jen@Notes From the Heartland says
The panels look wonderful Kim! Isn’t it amazing how a little fabric on the wall cozies up a room?
