It’s time for a very personal question…
Which football team do you root for?
We are Bears fans. I should say, Ryan is a Bears fan. I’m a fan of whoever Ryan is a fan of. It’s just simple that way. I don’t really have strong opinions when it comes to sports so I just kinda go with the flow. And, it’s easy to root for the team that your husband is passionate about. It’s kinda like brainwashing, I guess.
Anyhoozie… back to foosball… “foosball is the devil.” (Name that movie, friends.)
Ryan and I cheer on the Bears. We like to go to a game when we can, and last weekend happen to be our chance. Going to a pro football game is really an amazing experience. You scream, you jump, you drink hot cocoa. You high-five, you sing and you yell the wrong things at the wrong times.
Oh wait, that’s just me. I screamed “GET HIM” at the top of my lungs when Cutler was running the ball once. Oops…. Cutler is on our team. All the people around us snapped their heads around to looked at me. It was totally like the Exorcist. I just threw my hands up in the air and said, “OOPS! Rookie mistake.” Then they all just shook their heads and laughed at the silly girl in the 15th row. *Phew. That was close.*
Don’t mess with the Bears fans. They will eat you alive.
That, or they’ll order another Italian sausage. Either way, it’s a frightening scenario.
So, here are some photos of the game. By the time you get to your seat after trying to find $45 parking in the busiest.and.craziest.and.most.unhelpful.city.in.the.universe, you feel like you will never get over the stress of 45 minutes in the car trying to find a street thatย apparentlyย doesn’t exist while thinking you will never make it to Soldier Field.
But then, like that, it’s all forgotten. Because there are hot dogs. And lots of smiling, cheering fans. And hot cocoa in Chicago Bears mugs.
We happened to go to the same game that our friends attended, so we went to visit them in their seats. They were decked out in Bears gear. They probably even had Bears underwear. I’m just sayin’.
We got all decked out, too. Minus the underwear. I wore long underwear underneath my garb, which kept me nice and toasty. That and the Chicago Bears quilt I brought along. That was useful.
The Bears ended up winning. If they would have lost to the Browns it would have been embarrassing. The Brown’s are terrible. (Sorry, Brown’s fans.)
At least that’s what Ryan says. I don’t really have any clue about that kinda stuff. I had you fooled, didn’t I?
I was too busy tracking down a hot cocoa and nachos and people watching. This girl had more important things to worry about than some silly foosball game. ๐
Now back to that very personal question I asked before….
Which football team do you root for?

Thank you. For taking Cutler off our hands. Please keep him, we insist. No, no, it’s our pleasure. =]

Oh, dear. The Bears are our nemesis here in WI. PACK all the way! Too bad about Brett ruining Packers fan’s lives though….
Centsational Girl says
I have just two things to say:
1) Go Niners
2) Get squashed Bears.
Them’s fightin’ words. Can we still be friends? I’ll buy the beers.

We are a Seattle Seahawks household! Hubs and I are both from Seattle but since we live in North Carolina now we dont get to catch many games. Your post makes me want to go to a game! And now I also want a cute Seahawks scarf.

Da Bears!! I’m like you though…a fan of whoever Tony is a fan of.

Green Bay Packers, of course!

College football is where it’s at here in the south – Go Georgia Bulldogs!
And so funny about rooting for whoever your husband roots for – I’m the SAME way with my boyfriend!
Jordan says
My dad is a Bears fan because he grew up in IL(Rockisland(umm, is that two words?) as I’ve told you before )
But me, I root for the Redskins, which is a very unfortunate thing since they’re pretty sucky. But hometown pride gets my vote every time.
KellieBelle says
I quote The Waterboy too ๐
As a native New Orleanian, I am all about some SAINTS football!! I remember the paper bags, the “We ain’t the ‘aints no Mora!” and the still popular team chant of “WHO DAT?” I am slow and sleep-deprived today from staying up until the bitter end of last night’s AWESOME win against Atlanta, WHO DAT?!
Now my problem is that I live in Boston, aka Patriot-land, and I really don’t like the Patriots. And, mostly I don’t like Tom Brady, but that’s a whole ‘nother post ๐
Robin says
Don’t hate me but . . .
I’m a PACKER FAN, BABY!
GO PACK GO!!!!
Kristen @ Miss Prissy Paige says
We are Dallas Cowboy fans all the way. And by we – I mean by boyfriend Ryan. I just jumped on the Cowboys wagon once we started dating. Forget trying to be any other kind of fan in our house. We even got matching jerseys. Lame – I know, but he loves it. Now if only we could get down to the new stadium for a game…
…glad the Bears won, I picked them in my picks!
Ashley says
I lived in Dallas for a few Super Bowl wins, so I’m a COWBOY. Just don’t expect me to break out the cheerleader uniform. ๐
Occasionally I give some love to the Indianapolis Colts.
But mostly I love football for the “eats and treats” and the fab get-togethers.
carrie says
That would be the E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!
We’re actually a weird Eagles/Yankees household.
Usually it’s Yankees/Giants or Phillies/Eagles but we’re a hybrid. I don’t dislike the Phillies but Yankees are by far the fave. Giants, however, I strongly dislike. Not as much as I hate the Cowboys {so.much.hate.} but still a strong dislike.

We are college football fans all the way. We cheer for my husband’s alma mater, the USC Trojans. We are definitely a little sad about this past weekend. But we are looking ahead to the future because of our awesome freshman quarterback. Fight On!
Leigh says
We’re Colts fans. My brother-in-law lives in Indy so that’s how my husband got on the Colts-train. Unfortunately we don’t get their games on TV unless they’re prime time, so I usually end up watching the Redskins too. Even though they’re horrible this season!
We really want to go to an Indy game sometime soon, it just bites that we have to either drive 12 hours or fly out there first. I wish we were a bit closer so I could see Peyton Manning in person. ๐

Hi, Kim. You are funny. This post cracked me up. I am like you, I just go along with whatever when it comes to sports. Although, I am from Col., OH so I feel I am stuck being a buckeye fan for life and I’m okay with that. We live in Cincinnati now so my husband and I feel loyal to the Bengals. : )
That cracked me up when you told the story about saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Hilarious. Totally something I would do.
Thanks for making me laugh and for the sweet comment you left on my blog!

Ah, gotta love “The Waterboy.” ๐
I’m sure you know I’m a Broncos fan. Like the others have said…good luck with Cutler! I wasn’t sad to see him go at all, and it was driving me crazy that all these announcers at the beginning of the season kept talking about how crazy it was that Denver let such an amazing quarterback go. Ugh.
To some extent, I’m also a Browns fan (growing up near Cleveland). We were at a sports bar Sunday morning for the Broncos game, and the Bears/Browns was on, too. I told DH that the NFL wasn’t very nice…they’re making the poor Browns play on Monday night later this season. How embarrassing.
Kim @ NewlyWoodwards says
LMAO at all of you. Who would have thought that foosball would have such a passionate response? Decorating? naw…. this is turning into a football game fa sho.
PS – Cutler isn’t really our favorite. He has a hard time throwing the ball to our team. But, he is quite good at throwing it to the ground, the sidelines and the other team. You win some, you lose some.
We both had a lot of love for Orton. We miss him.
So do not judge us for trading mistake, ok? =)
XOXO
Mandy says
Kim…I’m a little dissapointed.
I thought we were blogmates? (you know, like soulmates, only for blogs)
I LOVE football.
The Saints are my team of choice, followed closely by the Eagles and the Broncos. The hubs is from Denver and is a die hard Broncos fan. I was a follower (like you) until a few years ago, when I decided if I was going to watch, maybe I should form an opinion…
lol
Anyway, good luck with Cutler. He sucks. Seriously. What good is a strong arm if you’re always throwing it to the wrong team??? We love Orton, though. I even said he was good when he played for the Bears! Thanks for the trade ๐
Amanda says
Looks like you guys had some great seats! We sat in that area during a preseason match and had a fantastic time (but took the bus…to your point parking is insane).
My husband is a die-hard Patriots fan. He broke the crossbeam to our love seat when the won their first super bowl. He’s playing fantasy football so that’s diversified his interests a little. And we live in Chicago, so you have to root for the Bears.
Having grown up in Houston, I myself prefer the Texans ๐
Mrs. Dirnberger says
I am a TRUE football fan..which is crazy so most people say. I actually love football more than my husband and most men. I breathe for it in fall time. My team is the Colts..hubsy team is the Dolphins, but we worked it out and decided to stay married! hehe
Emily says
I think you were on the right track with “Get him!”. That Cutler is trouble, has been since the day he graduated from Vanderbilt. Cried and whined and interception-threw his way through his seasons with the Broncos. I cannot tell you how glad I was when we sent him your way.
Oh, I’m sorry. I’m a little bitter because he was a real jerk (and passionless player) in Denver. And I’m a Broncos fan. Touchy subject – Orton killing it this season has only made it that much better. Can we still be friends?
Kelly says
There are a couple of teams my husband and I cheer for: the Steelers are my fave (JC often questions why we cheer for this team, since we are both from Alabama… I politely explain to him for the 1000th time that my mother spent half of her life in Pittsburgh and was kissed by Terry Bradshaw on her 18th birthday when she snuck into a bar… I therefore grew up in a house that loved all things Steelers, and that’s a good enough reason. So cheer now, mister.). We also like the Colts (I love Peyton Manning… and named our Weimaraner after him) and are sad that Tony Dungy isn’t coaching there anymore. But any NFL game is fun–I always love to see the “rookies” accidentally cheer against their own team. ๐
And “The Waterboy” is a GREAT movie!
Heather says
I root for the Colts. I like Peyton. I also like Jay Cutler because he is a Vandy grad and I like Vanderbilt (even though they are not doing very good this year), so I guess you can say I am a Bears fan ๐
Jenny @ Words on Wendhurst says
Hmm, I am afraid that we can no longer be bloggy friends. ๐ I am told that I root for the Packers, and only the Packers. (In reality I usually just root for the underdogs) Our friends are huge Bears fans, so we get together once or twice during the season to watch the Packers/Bears games.
Shannon says
hahaha Foosball! I’ve made about 3 references to foosball just this week. I think people are starting to get annoyed.
In regards to the Chicago Bears…my idea of them was formed from watching SNL skits. Da bears da bears da bears. hahaha then Chris Farley would eat a sausage and have another heart attack, loved it!
And although I am actually from central Illinois, I was raised in Philly, so obviously I have to say I’m an Eagles fan or I’ll be pelted with insults by my fellow Philadelphians. I could care less though really. I’m in the same boat as you, I love the idea of the game, singing and hot dogs and all that, but I don’t know a 4th down from a homerun. Wow, I had a lot to say, hahaha
Oh and thanks for the compliments on our costumes!
