Isn’t nice having a Monday off? It kinda takes all the “ugh” out of Monday.
And, we decided we weren’t going to do any work on Labor Day. No projects. No work. Which makes it the best kinda holiday, right?
We’ve been wanting to go to Starved Rock State Park for a while now. But, like many things – it kept getting put off.
No more.
We envisioned a lot of peaceful hiking and lovely views. Unfortunately, peaceful was a bit of an overstatement. It was a holiday, which means that everyone and their brother was at the park, too.
Duh! Why didn’t we think of that?
When we pulled into the parking lot, Ryan said, “What the heck? Are we at Disney World?” Once we maneuvered a parking spot (which took us going through every aisle twice), we had a lovely time and took a hike of a little under 3 miles.
There were lots of lovely views and once we made it past 1/2 mile, the crowds thinned out. We probably would have gone a little further but we were stahhhhving. So, we stopped at a local pizza joint on the way home and called it a day.
All-in-all, a fabulous way to spend Labor Day – with no work. Unless you count those butt-burning hills, I’ll be feeling that in the morning.

We went to Endicott Park in Danvers, MA…a nice little picnic by the pond, animals, a little park, and beautiful weather. (pics on FB) Looks like Starved Rock was great!

Fun! We hosted the whole family, (both sides) and had a blast doing it.
And yes, I totally screwed up my comment thingie. I’m special like that, and it took me a week to realize it was broken. Lol.

Sounds like you all had a nice day. We didn’t do anything too exciting. We just got some things taken care of that we had been putting off and watched football. 🙂

I bathed four dogs and did house work on Labor Day. But the earlier part of the weekend was spent in St. Louis for the Illini-Mizzou game, which didn’t go so well for my Illini fan husband. But it was nice to get away.

A Harley ride to the Quad Cities for us. The weather was absolutely perfect. We stopped at Dave’s dad and ended up pulling weeds in his yard for him. He was totally appreciative which made it even better. Then home too cook out on the grill. We smelled grills cooking all the way home and couldn’t wait to make dinner for us. Then a campfire with our best friends! Life is good!
