Today, I’m letting you in on a little secret. While I love to entertain, I don’t really love to cook.
Shhhhhh…
But, I’ve started to find my groove, and a lot of this is by serving meals that can be prepared ahead of time so I’m not stuck in the kitchen all night. This isn’t Top Chef, folks. But we are casual around these parts, anyhow.
Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite go-to party recipes. These sliders are a crowd-pleaser! Every single time I make them, I get asked for the recipe. (I actually first got this recipe from my friend Shannon after inhaling half a tray of them at her party.)
These are the trifecta of party food:
- Delicious
- Easy
- Filling
- Flexible
I almost always have the ingredients on-hand. There are a lot of variations of these Hawaiian roll sliders floating around, but here’s how I make them. (And check below for some variations.)
Party Sliders
Ingredients:
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 package of Hawaiian rolls (small buns also work in a pinch)
- Sliced deli meat (I usually use roast beef. But ham, turkey, roast beef or leftover sliced meat will also work.)
- Sliced cheese (I usually use cheddar.)
Instructions:
- Melt stick of butter on the stovetop. Add onions and cook until translucent.
- Add Worcestershire, Dijon mustard and poppy seeds. Stir until sauce is combined and begins to thicken. Remove from heat.
- Slice the full loaf of rolls down the center (so the top is separated from the bottom).
- Oil a 9×13 pan and add the bottoms of the rolls.
- Layer 1/2 sauce, meat, cheese, top buns, 1/2 sauce.
- Cover with tin foil and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. (Can also be made in advance and refrigerated.)
- Slice and serve.
Go forth and party, my friends.

so good and an easy, accessible recipe for a beginning cook. I wish you’d do more recipe type stuffs, or more variety in posts like you used to -cooking, crafting, volunteer stuffs, more of your day to day life instead of the ‘unconventional home’ angle. Just my two cents.

Thanks so much, Christine! This is definitely one of our favorites.
Appreciate your feedback. Right now, we are focusing on home projects and ideas. They are where I feel most confident and where I hope we can share something a little different. I’ll leave the recipes and other projects to the experts. 😉 (I do sometimes share favorites on social media – if you follow along on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook.)
