There isn’t a single room in our new house that’s really pulled together and finished.
I mean, I’m totally okay with that. Or at least, I understand that I should be okay with that. Baby steps.
In truth, I’m doing my best to be content with the process, and giving myself (and Ryan) a little grace that it will clearly take time before everything feels “finished.”
And I’m so darn happy with this house that I catch myself goofy smiling when no one is around. So, we’re good.
All that to say, the downstairs bathroom is next in the line of rooms I still want to share with you. It’s not finished. But it has all the working parts, so I’m okay with that.
Having two bathrooms, you guys. It’s pretty awesome. Not having one for the past 4 years makes it very easy to appreciate.
Henry STILL doesn’t have any idea about WHY we would need two bathrooms. No matter how many times he asks why we have another bathroom downstairs, I still think it’s hilarious. He is a minimalist at heart.
This bathroom is right off the mudroom – inside the garage entrance. (Check out the full floor plan here.)
The location is super convenient for our family – easy to get to without trekking through the whole house. It’s not a huge space, but I think it’s usefulness trumps size.
I found the mirror at the local Hancock Fabrics about 6 months ago for a song. And we mounted it on the wall using a dummy door knob that matches our door locks. It was a great way to add a little interest to a tiny room.
We chose oil-rubbed bronze for all the plumbing fixtures, which I think turned out well. I still need to swap out the handles on the vanity, which I realized after I took the photos. #addittothelist
The shower curtain has been waiting for a home for about 6 or 7 years. I bought it on clearance and it just never worked in our bathrooms. But I think I like it here – it’s a nice pop of color and gives me lots of options for other decor. When I decide on other decor.

Looking good! You guys just built a WHOLE HOUSE; I think you can cut yourself some slack about not having the whole thing decorated just yet 😉

Lookin’ good! I love the green shade of the curtain. It goes great with the bronze accents. You’re gettin’ there!

Omg Kim you have no idea how jealous this makes me. I wanted to do sconces on both sides of our mirror too! I LOVE that look so much. But our mirror is huge and I haven’t found another one I like enough for the space to make it work. I’ll just stare longingly at yours instead. I love this space so much. And Henry is so sweet, I just love his attitude. I’m sure he feels like you guys are living in a mansion compared to your cute barn apartment. By the way, is that color Sea Salt by any chance? It looks so similar to the color in our bedroom and half bath. I love it. Can’t wait to see this cutie house in person!

Ohhh, Henry! He is too cute.
And I really like the tile flooring!

It is done enough. Anything extra you do, is frosting on the cake. I like it very much. You will stumble on the extra touches that make it feel more done.

It looks like the mirror and sconces are so high! I’m 5’2″ and it looks like I’d only see the top of my head in that mirror! Love the floor.
Kim says
The sconces are at the standard height. And the mirror isn’t as long as normal, but I think you’d see your full face. 🙂 we did place them so Ryan and I could see ourselves full on. If we went any lower, Ryan’s head would get cut off.
