Because we are in the middle of nowhere, window coverings aren’t necessarily needed for privacy. (Unless you are concerned about privacy from frogs, coons and deer. Which I’m not.)
However, the light that comes through the windows during the day is so bright that something was necessary – to prevent the heat, sun damage and bright light. And we had many large windows and we don’t have a lot of spare dollars lying around.
We have had shades in our last two homes – fabric Roman shades in our first home and bamboo Roman shades in our last house. I loved the fabric shades, but they had horrible cords that got tangled up all the time.
So budget was key. As was cordless. And – I think I found the perfect cordless Roman shades on a serious budget. Which means I have to share with you, my budget and home decor-loving friends.
I was able to get all the shades for about $20 each with coupons and ebates. TWENTY. FLIPPIN’. DOLLARS. And I love them. Love them way more than what I paid for them.
These are the Dover Cordless Roman Shades from JCPenney Home in gray. (I also bought the linen color for our bedroom.)
You simply pull them down (NO CORDS). And then you push them up (NO CORDS).
We had to go with two shades on the largest windows, which means that sometimes the shades aren’t exactly even. And when they are lifted the shade pleats aren’t perfect. But that doesn’t bother me in the least. I actually kind of like it. It’s very casual chic, don’t you think?
These shades block a fair amount of light and heat from the sun, they look good up or down, and they still show off all the great woodwork.
Just thought that someone else may need some budget-friendly shades. Don’t forget to use ebates and coupon codes.
