The carpeting is in upstairs, which means two things:
- The no-shoe policy is officially in effect.
- I’m biting at the bit to move into this house already.
Choosing carpet was a totally new experience for me. I have never purchased carpet before and it was pretty overwhelming. They all start to look the same – but there are so many factors. We wanted something that would wear well, look nice, and stay on-budget.
My mother-in-law did some shopping with me and she taught me a lot about carpeting. I ended up purchasing the carpeting locally (from Village Home Store, for any locals).
We went with two different types of carpeting – a textured carpet for the stairs and hallway and a more plush carpeting for bedrooms.
The stairway carpeting should hold up well to foot traffic, but the pattern also looks great. We chose a carpet with two warm gray tones – perfect to go with all the colors we have in our home. This carpet is Godfrey Hurst Aegean in Smoke Wood.
It looks so clean and crisp against the freshly painted trim.
Yep. I like this carpet a lot.
Doesn’t the texture look nice?
The pattern is even more noticeable in the upstairs hallway.
In the bedrooms, we went with a more plush carpeting (SO SOFT) with variated colors. This is Dream Weavers Kaleidoscope in Pewter.
The carpeting looks great in all the rooms, and it feels amazing.
We’ve never had carpeting in our bedrooms before, and I really think it will be a nice change of pace. I already found Ryan laying on our bedroom carpet enjoying it.
Who needs a mattress anyhow?

2 types of carpet… Fascinating. Something you don’t see done here in AZ. We are a little gung-ho for tile. Makes sense since there is so much stair traffic. Would love to see a close up of the transition between the 2. We have carpet In the bedrooms you’ll enjoy it!

Looks great! Love that Greek key on the stairs. I made the mistake of going way too cheap on carpet at the old house and it looked terrible in a matter of months. You will be grateful you went with something higher quality! I’d be laying on it too!

Nice! And I agree that carpet in the bedrooms is a smart choice. Did you install yourselves?
