In case there’s any question, I am definitely on SANTA’S NICE LIST this year.
And to prove it, I put together a simple Santa display on our brand new front porch. (Which I still need to post about. We’ll come back to that.)
This exterior display was put together with things I already had on hand with the help of a little bit of Behr paint.
It’s part of the fun Holiday Home Challenge with the rest of the fabulous DIY Expert bloggers. (Check out all the projects at the end of this post and a giveaway to make your own holiday project!)Because I wanted to complete an outdoor project, I used two colors in Behr MARQUEE exterior paint – Ultra Pure White and Antique Red.
The red is the same color as our new front door, so I started by giving our old milk crate a fresh coat of matching paint. (I gave it a light cleaning and sanding first.)
I wanted to make it look like Santa, so I added a strip of black vinyl for a belt and a small decorative wood frame for the buckle.
Once the crate was done, I started a little makeover on an old wooden crate I had in storage.
This was made with a stencil I created on the Silhouette. You could also use pre-made stencils or stickers.
And finally, I created a piece of Santa art on a stained wooden circle I had lying around. (It was part of a long-forgotten project and was already stained.)
I created the designs on my Silhouette and then painted them onto the round.
I needed lots of greenery to finish off the display, which I found in my front yard. (The trees needed trimming anyhow.)
I have some plans to move a few things around, but I love how this display turned out. I told Henry that there’s no chance that Santa will miss our house this year.
