I’m not good at selling a house. There are a lot of reasons, but suffice to say that most issues revolve around cleaning this darn house.
It’s only been a month. I know that it’s not personal. But I just wanted the first person who came through to fall in love and make us a full-asking-price offer. That didn’t happen. Instead, we have had a LOT of showings over the past month, two second showings, and zero offers.
It’s been really disappointing, but I know that it’s normal for this kind of thing to take time.
But I have a secret weapon –
This big green box showed up on our porch right before our house went up for sale. And it’s been the perfect tool for my house-for-sale cleaning arsenal. I have always been a “Swiffer-er,” but it’s made it really simple to keep our floors looking (and smelling) great.
Do you appreciate my action shot? And the Swiffer duster has made all of our shelves, light fixtures, fans and corners are free of dust. Basically, I’ve been Swiffering like no one’s business. So the things I do every time we have a showing is:
- Swiffer dust
- Vacuum all the rugs.
- Dry Swiffer all the wood floors and tile.
- Wet Swiffer all the wood floors and tile
I can do my entire house in less than an hour. I think that’s pretty good to maintain a clean home! Truthfull, our house has never been this clean. Which is perfect timing, because I want every potential person who walks through this house to think that we ALWAYS keep our house this clean. And then they will want to buy it, right?
My old Swiffer has become Henry’s Swiffer, so I make him pitch in, too. Gotta earn his keep. He loves it.
The best part about the Swiffer is that it’s simple enough that anyone can pitch in to make the house cleaner.
The Swiffer Effect
Swiffer wants to make cleaning easier, no matter who is behind the Swiffer handle. Check out the Swiffer Effect video from Eric Stonestreet.
Pass it on
Swiffer also sent me a second big green box to pay it forward and delight someone else with a box of their own.
I thought my mom deserved a box of Swiffer for herself. Isn’t she the cutest?
It was like I gave her the gift of a clean house. #bestdaughterever
