Arizona AND Tennessee in November

I am scrambling to get caught up on the blog, folks. Starting with the fact that Henry and I were regular jet-setters in November and I haven’t even recapped here.

Who am I?

So, forgive me but I’m wrapping it all up in one massive post of photos. If you don’t love recaps of other people’s travels (and who WOULDN’T?) then you can skip this. But, because the blog is really meant to document our lives (and because I have approximately 19,832 photos of the trips), I’m going to do a bit of a download.

Now that I’m home with Henry, I have a lot more flexibility to travel. And I’m not going to lie, it’s awesome.

My folks spend the winters in sunny Arizona so I jumped at the chance to visit them in November. My mom found a great deal on flights and Henry and I packed up and spent 10 days in the sunshine. After a bit of a rough start with our flight being cancelled and delayed and OHMYGODIHAVEATODDLERTOENTERTAIN, we made it to Arizona and to visit my parents. We love them.

Henry really can’t stand spending time with grandma and grandpa. (Sarcasm. He didn’t even realize I was still around.)Arizona 2013005

We went on a train ride at a ghost town and Henry was mesmerized. And look at that view of the Superstition Mountains! Gorgeous.Arizona 2013030

My parents have a big fountain in the backyard. So Henry decided that it was his personal pool. Everyone needs a personal pool.

Did I mention that I slept in Ahhhhh…… thank you, mom and dad.Arizona 2013113

Mom and I went to the fabulous Street of Dreams one day, too. So much house inspiration. I took tons of photos and hope to come back in another post to share more. But for now – you can check out my mom and I. And that backyard? Can you imagine looking at that every day?

Dad, Henry and I also hit the Phoenix Zoo. Where Henry insisted he be carried the entire time. Like the sultan he is.Arizona 2013123

He would only wear his John Deere hat backwards. Where does a one-year-old come up with these things?

My son is meant to be outdoors. He just thrives when he can play outside.

And lest you think I just soaked up sun and slept in and enjoyed the relaxation, (which I did), I also had the chance to meet up with some of my very favorite bloggers – including the fabulous Caitlin from Desert Domicile. She and I went shopping in Phoenix at a variety of thrift shops. We really clicked – wish we were closer so we could hang out more often.Arizona 2013116

Speaking of clicking – Henry and I also had a play date with Michelle from Making Our Dream and Adrienne from Dream Book Design. I had a chance to meet up with them earlier this year and I’m so glad we could get the kids together this time. The train park was a HIT!Arizona3

And don’t even get me started on the cuteness of all these babies. I mean …. seriously? Killing me with the cute. In this picture, the four of them are discussing ways to drive organic traffic to our blogs. Kenton had some excellent ideas about Pinterest. But Bray has some other thoughts about Facebook. Henry thinks it’s all hogwash and Camille is focused on her snacks. ;) Arizona2

Thank you so much to my mom and dad for being such wonderful hosts.

Once Henry and I flew home, we had less than a week before we packed up the car to drive to Memphis, Tenn., to visit Ryan’s family. I only took a handful of photos this time. But, it was wonderful to see Ryan’s family, many of whom hadn’t met Henry.

And while Henry had never met his second cousin Shelby, he knew who she was immediately. (I think he recognized her from a picture on our fridge.) He bopped right over to her when we arrived and rarely left her side.

The Southerners made sure Henry had plenty of Tennessee gear. Henry approved.

It was definitely nice to get back home and settle into our routines are our trips, but what a wonderful month of November it was. Feeling so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends to visit.

  7. Sounds like a fun time for all! Next time you’re in Memphis let me know. I’ll make the drive to see you! It’s like an 8 hour drive for us. I’m always looking for an excuse to go to TN usually for Nashville, but we’ve talked about spending some time in Memphis on the way in.
