One of my goals for the month was to deep clean the house. It seems that at least twice a year, I feel the need to really work my way through the house – top to bottom. I’m doing some of those things that don’t happen
as often as they should. Like wiping down baseboards, touching up trim paint, taking apart and cleaning light fixtures and scrubbing floors and tile. Or like organizing closets and wiping down the insides of all cupboards and drawers.
In other words, things I hate. Those tedious, hated tasks that must be done.
Another thing on this list is washing windows.
Ugh. I talked about this a few months ago, but never got around to cleaning all of our windows thoroughly. (Seriously, you could act a little more surprised.) And because we live around a lot of trees, our windows get dirty a lot faster than I think they should.
So, when Jennifer with Fish Window Cleaning Services emailed to ask if I’d like to try Fish Foam, I sucked it up and said yes. Because those windows weren’t going to clean themselves. (Unless, seriously? Does anyone want to come over and clean my windows.)
I am pretty spoiled, because we replaced our windows when we renovated in 2010. So, I can easily get the insides AND the outsides.
In no time, I cleaned every window in our house. Insides and outsides. I know. I deserve a medal.
But, I wanted to get some extra credit. (Oh yes, I was the kid in class who would get 100 percent on a test and ask for opportunities for extra credit.)
So, I also cleaned pretty much everything that is glass in our house – our china hutches, grandfather clock, mirrors, doors, picture frames … I went a little crazy, but I’m the type of person who has to do it all when I’m doing it. Because as soon as the cleaning supplies get put away, it will never happen again. (The glass on the door is now so clean that you can actually see the reflection of the baby toys I tried to hide out of sight. Busted.)
Next up, cleaning all those windows in the barn … Thanks to Fish Foam for giving me the push to get another check on my fall cleaning list.
What’s on your fall cleaning list?
