Our first Bring Your Own Pumpkin Party has come and gone! We had 20 people at our house on Saturday for a fun and crafty get-togther designed to appeal to the youngest guests. The 8 kids who came out seemed to enjoy themselves, so I call it a success!
To keep this from getting too long, I’ll share some photos of the decor and pumpkin decorating today and come back throughout the week with more details about food and other fun activities for toddlers!
Do you remember our invites? I think the invites we chose from Tiny Prints set the tone for a fun night! And I use the word night loosely. It started at 4 and everyone was gone by 7. Party. Animals. (Check out our party plan on the Tiny Prints blog.)
The invites had an awesome orange, black and white dot backside and were made of a thick cardstock. They turned out so nicely, I wanted to keep them all. But, I didn’t. (Thanks to Tiny Prints for providing the cards for this party at no charge.)
Now, it’s time for the decor … I tried to spookify our home for Halloween and I had a blast adding some Halloween touches throughout the house. I was never much of a Halloween decorator, but having Henry changed all that. This year, I worked on several Halloween DIY decor projects over the past few weeks that were the perfectly backdrop for this party.
(Recycled milk jugs into ghosts, inspired by these)
(Spiders from Dollar Tree)
(Banner and balls from Target, chalkboard arrows from Save-On-Crafts.com)
(I kept the top part of the chalkboard art from Emily’s wedding in September and just swapped out the bottom word.)
The dining room was set up for pumpkin decorating. Instead of carving, I went with lots of kid-friendly options – foam stickers, pom pom creatures, googly eyes and glitter stickers. Almost all of the stuff was found at the Dollar Tree. There was also paint with aprons, but most kids stuck to the stickers. Some spent almost the entire night at this table, painstakingly decorating their pumpkins. (My kid, by the way, barely spent 45 seconds on his masterpiece.)
I also had pumpkins and finger paints for handprints of all the kids.
For favors, I simply used brown paper bags, a little black and white washi tape, and a spider cut-out from Dollar Tree. Inside, I put some Halloween balloons, and eyeball ball and stickers. Simple and fun for toddlers.
I really wanted to set up a photo station so all the families could get a family photo for Halloween. Even though it started sprinkling, the photo station was a hit! Ryan got me two straw bales, my mom picked up the corn stalks and I just added a few festive touches.
(Chalkboard signs from Save-On-Crafts.com)
I sort of love having my own photo area in my backyard. I see many photos taking place here in the next week.
In true Woodward fashion, this is the best family photo I got of the three of us. Henry accidentally got some jalapeno juice on his tongue. He was clearly pleased. Despite this picture, our little entertainer loved having so many people over for a party.
I think everything turned out really fun! Stop by tomorrow for some Halloween food ideas.
What do you think?
Disclosure: We were provided with the invites from Tiny Print at no charge. But, we were not asked to write about them in this post – we were just thrilled with the quality of the invites and wanted to share them with you.
