Ugh. What kind of blogger am I?
One of my very favorite blogger families came to visit over a week ago and while I mentioned it, I haven’t shared the deets.
It was all the birthday party craziness that made me more insane than usual. Forgive me?
When I asked Shannon to help me plan Henry’s shin-dig, I never imagined she’d actually be able to come to the party! But I sent her an invite so she could see it and I was floored when she texted me to see if it was okay if she and her family made the trip to the Midwest for the party!
I squealed! OF COURSE IT WAS OKAY. OHMYGOSHI’MSOEXCITED.
And I insisted that they stay with us so I could
make her my party slave spend every moment of the weekend together. And I totally put them up in Henry’s nursery with an air mattress, so I’m sure they would have preferred a hotel! Ritz Carlton, the Woodwards are not. But we’re fun, I think, so hopefully that made up for it.
I loved seeing Shannon and reconnecting with John and Gabe. (You can read about their first visit, when Gabe was Henry’s age, here.) And it was fun to introduce Henry to the gang.
And I am so appreciative that Shannon worked the entire weekend to help me put the party together. Let’s just say that this was not a relaxing trip for her. I could not have done it without her.
But I did make sure that Michelle was there for entertainment. (Michelle is very entertaining.)
Gabe was as cute as always. And he charmed the masses at Henry’s party. He even got a little harmonica lesson from Henry’s great papa. (Those dimples!)
And then the little guys did a lot of this.
I had all kinds of outdoor plans, but Mother Nature had other intentions – it rained ALL.STINKING.WEEKEND. So no zoo or parks in the cards. But tractors did help keep them entertained.
And they watched the flash floods out the front window in their jammies. My heart.
The adults even got to take in a childless meal thanks to my mom (who I’ve taken to calling the Baby Whisperer), who watched Henry and Gabe while we had lunch.
My mom even gave the pair two baths over the weekend while Shannon and I drank Limaritas and gabbed. I cannot show you pictures of that because your ovaries could not take it.
I just wanted to hug Shannon all weekend. Such a great friend, this one. So happy to know her.
You can go visit Shannon at her blog – Shannanigans. Tell her she should come back to the Midwest soon. Or, you know, live here. Whatever works.
