It’s nearly Mother’s Day, and there’s still plenty of time to make something special for your mom.
(This is also serving as a not-so-subtle reminder to my husband, since this is my very first Mother’s Day as a mom. So, you know, get me something sparkly. :))
Anyhoo, this is a project we did last month at Craft Night and it would make a perfect gift for mom. And it’s fun, too.
It’s a pretty little clay tray that’s perfect for change or jewelry. Here’s the original pin we used as inspiration.
And here’s my version.
The gist is simple, but it did take us a few tries. Roll out your clay to the size you want your bowl. Trim off your edges and then add the embellishment with a lace doily. (It took us a few takes and a few different types of lace doilies to get it right.) I also added some words with a metal stamping kit. (The date of my wedding and Henry’s birthday, with the quote “What a difference a day makes.”)
I sanded it a little after it was baked.
Hope you find something special to give to your mom.
I’m linking up to the first week of DIY May-nia with Anne, Melanie, Ashley and Kelly.

I’m catching up on blogs today and so happy to see this! There use to be a girl in my town that made these but she doesn’t anymore. I was wanting to do it with the lace from my wedding dress and mom’s wedding dress. Love the quote!

What a terrific project. I love the letter stamping you did. I know that takes a LOT of patience – and spell check if I were doing it ;). I just love how it turned out!!

I wish craft night was this week. Your bowl turned out adorably. And you did it yourself which is the most impressive part. 😉
