I think it’s funny to tell “real-life” people that I’m visiting blog friends. Because then there’s an awkward silence when they look at you like you just ate a bar of soap.
Yep. I meet my friends on the internet.
But blog friends are the best. That is truly the best part of starting this silly little blog four years ago. These awesome people with whom I have so much in common and who are wonderful friends. So, when I received an email that Junk Bonanza was last weekend, I emailed Michelle from Decor and the Dog and Cindy from The Flipping Couple. My home girls. They agreed that this was meant to be.
You may remember that Cindy came to visit us this winter and a great time was had by all. This time – Cindy and her husband Nick not only let us stay with them, but also were the most gracious hosts, including fabulous accommodations and delicious food. Love those two.
And these two- such sweethearts. I’m lucky that Michelle lives close to me, but we need a little more Cindy in our lives. (P.S. That’s my green necklace, so don’t go complimenting Michelle on it. Mmmkay?)
The Junk Bonanza was … a little overwhelming. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was pretty darn busy, which made it hard to get into the booths. And prices were a bit steep for a “deal-hunter” like me. But I did take some inspiration away, which I’ll share later. But, most of my favorite pieces were out of my budget. Bummer. Dude.
I did come home with these two things – a really pretty, fall-ish afghan and a letterpress box. The afghan is particularly fabulous and quite lovely in my living room.
Michelle brought home nothing from the Junk Bonanza. Cindy was eying those letters, but also came home empty-handed.
Aren’t these two girls so pretty? Inside and out.
And yes, we took this photo. Even though my little Prius wasn’t nearly packed to the brim.
Next we hit the Mall of America, which was pretty cool. Lots of great stores that we don’t have at home. H&M FOR BABIES.
Then, the Mother Ship.
This is what Michelle came up with when I told her to channel Mary Tyler Moore. I love that she did it without questioning. This was her FIRST-EVER VISIT TO IKEA. I know!
She did pretty well in the willpower department. But she couldn’t resist the cheap pillows.
All-in-all, a great weekend with wonderful friends. I think we’ll be doing it again. Like, next weekend?
(Check out Michelle’s recap and Cindy’s recap. Also, I didn’t take a single picture of Nick, which is negligent because he was an awesome host. Thanks, Nick AND Cindy!)
