I’d love to have something really exciting to share on the blog. But, I don’t.
Mostly, because I’ve been spending far too many hours working on a houndstooth quilt for the nursery. Which, as usual for Kim, is taking about 300 times longer than I expected. But, it’s coming together.
And I know that many of you were also interested in the pattern (from v and co). So, here’s my progress …
I’m about half-done piecing the stripe-y squares. I have somewhere around 50 of them done.
And, of course, these didn’t end up the size they were intended to, because my cutting and seams weren’t perfect (are they ever?). This is total user error – the pattern was well-written and probably not all that difficult. But, I cut them all down to 3 inch squares to fix the discrepancy (the pattern calls from 3 3/8). This will mean my finished quilt will be a bit smaller, but I’m okay with that. At least everything is all lined up and I don’t have re-piece the squares.
Once I started laying out the half of the quilt I’ve finished, I’m really pleased with the result.
I think it’s beginning to look like a houndstooth quilt, don’t you?
Now, I just have a lot more cutting and piecing to go. And more Numbers to watch on Netflix.
Wish me luck!

You are a far more patient person than I am. My head swims just trying to figure out how you pieced that together. ๐ You have one very lucky little man growing in there. ๐

Ahhhh!! This is awesome. I can totally see the pattern emerging! That must be so exciting for you. I understand what you are saying about being off. There is a ton of seams for you to go wrong here. Yikes! I can’t wait to see the finished product. Your nursery is looking great!

Ah-mazing!! I just finished my Feb. block. I do not see any houndstooth quilts in my future.
Are you going to let Baby W. use this or just look at it? Because I’d go with just look at it. Babies are messy. ๐

Wow! It’s beautiful!
You have so much more patience than I do… I’m pretty sure I would have gotten pieces cut and then gotten impatient and quit.
Your boy is going to be lucky to have such an awesome heirloom quilt!
