I finally built up the courage to display a variety of photos together. I always admire photo walls in other people’s homes, but never had one myself. I thought a wall in the living room was begging for photos.
I have so many photos from our travels, so I chose some of my favorites to display. It was as simple as printing them in black and white and framing them in black frames with white matting. (I already had lots of the frames and I picked up a few new ones at Michael’s when they were on sale.)
I’m thinking I may add a few more, but I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
Here are a few close-ups of the images. Some from our west coast road trip, Montreal and Soldier Field…
It’s pretty heavy with Oregon coast photos, so I’ll probably swap some out. But, we really liked the Oregon coast so it’s okay for now.
(The Chicago image was a photograph of Soldier Field I purchased for Ryan from a local photographer. All others are by us.)
Ryan really wasn’t thrilled about me hanging all these pictures. Something about the weeks of painstaking work to get these walls cleaned up and smoothed. But, he likes the images now that they are up. And I tried to be really careful while nailing everything.
I also put up this frame behind the sofa from our wedding. It matches all the colors in our living room perfectly.
And that’s one step closer to “finishing” the living room. It’s definitely looking homier, don’t you think?
What do you think of our new photo wall?

Niiice! I’ve wanted a photo wall for years. In the rental we had the “hall of fame” on (in?) the stairwell, but I want more visibility than that. I’m still searching for the perfect spot.

I have to admit, I wasn’t super into the furniture when you showed it at first, but Man! That chair fits perfectly in that corner, the sofa is awesome, and the color really meshes well with your style. I actually find myself a bit jealous of the chair…
The photo wall is great! It really looks like a home. You seriously have a gift.

I think it looks great Kim–I really think the key to a good photo wall is being consistent in terms of both the type of photos and the coloring, so you nailed it!

Love it. I really want to do one in our house but I have no idea where. Maybe it ‘ll be easier when we have walls again. : )
ps I fully support the abundance of Oregon coast pictures. Just FYI.

You know I love myself a photo wall or two :o) They look awesome. I’ve purchased frames at garage sales & even the dollar store before (spray paint rescues all).
