Thanksgiving is all about gathering with family and friends. And while I’d love to have the money to decorate like the magazines, I have to go simple.
But this simple gather sign is a quick and easy way to decorate the dining room for the big feast!
But what am I most thankful for during this holiday is spending time with family. And I was inspired by Layla’s fall mantel from last year – particularly the word “gather.”
This is just the time to remind you that Dare to DIY can be super simple and inexpensive!
A little bit of time later and I had my own version.

Love that you got the two projects for the price of one! So clever and you can use it any time of year. You are always thinking!

The yellow contrasts so nicely with the dark dining room walls! So cheerful! I love it! I agree that you could probably keep it up year round. What a great dining room decoration!
Also, way to get two projects out of one!!

That looks pretty darn awesome Kim. Why are words so awesome? especially oversize ones…Great choice of color too. I would have picked something boring…like paper mache brown.

Love your gather sign. In true Emily fashion, i fell down on the job this week – but i’ll be here next week!!!

I JUST finished my project, but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow when I have some natural light to photograph it!

Wow! It’s only Sunday evening and already quite a turn out this week. Yay! I didn’t do anything. I was basically completely unproductive this weekend, beyond having to go in to work and spending waaaay to much money at Costco. But I can’t wait to check out everybody’s projects!
I love the yellow against the dark walls in the dining room. Lovely!

uh,oh I slacked and made nothing…well nothing I can in anyway tie into the theme. I totally think the letters can, and should, stay up year round. That board is great too. So fun!
Jenny @ DIY Newlyweds says
Great party! I haven’t prepared for Thanksgiving yet, but I linked up a project from a previous year. I need to get on the ball for this year!
DecorandtheDog says
I’m digging the yellow letters!! And you’re such an overachiever with your TWO projects.
I’m sort of stretching it. I was going to make some pilgrims out of paint swatches…but that was an epic fail. 😛
Thanks for making me not be lazy!

Whoa. Hold on (I need to pick my jaw up off the floor). I freaking LOVE those yellow letters. I never thought about using those paper mache letters in that way (although I did cover one in moss for easter once). I love the yellow against the dark walls. It looks like a photo that needs to be featured in Apartment Therapy. I’m totally pinning it :o)
Erin @ Domestic Adventure says
Two projects in one–such a bonus! I love the yellow you chose. And I really like the word “gather.” So versatile, and appropriate for the seasons!

so cute!! it’s perfect – bc the inside letters are crisp and bright, matching your interior, but the outside board is a little more rustic and outsidey (totally a word, i promise).
great job!

I love this! I really like the board outside. It looks so rustic.
