Well, this is probably the slowest progress week in the last 48 weeks. Due to the fact that we were getting our house up for sale, we spent the majority of our time away from the renovation. Which is fine. Good, really.
It would be nice to sell one of our houses in our collection. Although, yesterday I caught Ryan LOOKING AT THE REAL ESTATE LISTINGS ON THE INTERNET. When I asked him why, he said he was checking out some income property. To which I replied that we should probably sell one of our three houses first.
The fact that I’m the practical one in this scenario verges on and episode of the Twilight Zone.
One thing we did do this week is move some boxes. Holy. Moley. I have so much ‘stuff.’ How does this happen? I thought I purged. I packed up stuff from cabinets and cupboards and already nearly filled up the basement storage that Ryan built. He’s thrilled about building more storage shelves. (Not.)
Here’s the first load going over to the new house. (God love Arizona Lainey. When she spotted the trailer loaded up, she told me that I’d better get outside and get a photo for the blog. She’s a woman after my heart.)
I love that the trailer is called “Master Dump.” Marketing idea of the decade.
Anyways, Ryan told me that I couldn’t buy anything. Ever again. Those were his exact words. And I particularly am not allowed to buy anything to do with Christmas. It’s one out and one in from here on out.
I can’t help it. I have Christmas spirit. I think I have around 30-40 tubs of Christmas stuff. And Ryan and I dad loaded lots of those plastic tubs of holiday cheer. Although the work made Ryan more like the Scrooge and less like Elf. Go figure.
But don’t let Ryan fool you. Nearly everything that is mysteriously filling up the new garage is his. (His dirty little secret.)
In other news, Ryan spent Sunday getting the gas and electricity hooked up to the stove. I think I’m really going to like this stove. Cooking with gas, baby.
He’s also getting the hot water heater hooked up. Neither of these things are very sexy (which clearly, most of our tasks usually are), but they are pretty important. It will be nice to have hot water. And the ability to cook things.
It’s the little things.
Since I’m planning to get this house sold, you know, like by Sunday, we’re going to have to step up the last details. Crunch time. Arrived.
What do you think?

Oooh… Your stove is so pretty! I am jealous that you’ve got gas. I’m not even sure I’d remember how to cook with gas at this point.

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with building a nice xmas decor collection. That way you can mix it up each year. Good luck moving to your new home. Very exciting!!!

While I don’t have 40 bins of xmas stuff, I can totally appreciate how things just pile up! And I can’t remember if I ever posted on your progress report with all the room photos, but HOT DAMN! Your place is looking quite fly, sweet, rad, and all those other descriptive words I used to love. Nice work, you guys!!!

Let me know how you like gas. It scares me. Open flames + Michelle = bad.
Good luck with the move…I don’t envy you! If we ever decide to move (which I don’t plan on doing), I think I’ll do like our neighbors did and have a big ol’ sale. They just left everything they didn’t want in the house and you just wandered around and picked what you want. Don’t let you husband see this. 😛

yay! The storage is amazing! John tells me I have too much stuff too, but then I check out the basement. I hope the weather is good for all the moving. Oh, and I LOVE cooking on gas- never going back.

It’s becoming more and more real now, huh?!
I will admit. I am a weee bit jealous of the gas stove. We have gas hookups in our house but currently the stove is electric. I cannot wait to switch back over to gas! [the previous owners switched it from gas to electric… weird].

all your “stuff” cracked me up, and i am under the same rules pertaining to not buying anything, except mine is strictly relating to fall and halloween. my weekness, other than new shoes.
great new stove…it’s really coming along!

I think your Christmas collection is perfectly reasonable. You use it! It’s not like it sits in the basement unused. Oh, I have about 30 tubs also. LOL
Amanda @ Serenity Now says
Exciting!!! I don’t think you should have to suffer just because you have the Christmas spirit. I get by b/c T is not very observant, and when he does notice something new I just act exasperated and say “What?! That’s been there forever. You never pay attention!” And then he shuts up. That is what I have learned in being married for almost 10 years.
Liz @ It's Great To Be Home says
Exciting, all those little things mean it’s almost time for you to move in!!

Sounds like we are doing the same thing, packing and moving boxes lol. We plan to list ours on the MLS this next week… I hope it sells fast I’m ready for this big move.
Love those shelves Ryan built, might have to show that image to hubs lol.
