Do you remember this beauty?
A lovely Kohler apron-front sink that we found on Craigslist last June for $50. I love it.
Unfortunately, my pocketbook is not a friend of the farmhouse sink. Once I began getting quotes on kitchens, it was clear that the sink may not work in the house.
First, the problem was that the sink was very large and didn’t fit well in any of the designs.
Then, we realized that the base-grade cabinets didn’t have many options for bases for a sink like this. The high-end cabinetry did, but that wasn’t in our budget. And I didn’t want to risk buying a base from a different cabinet design.
Finally, I realized that we could go to IKEA, buy a single-basin apron-front sink and save more than $2,500 from the kitchen price I was quoted elsewhere.
It was a no-brainer. And, I was able to unload this on Craigslist with a tidy $100 profit within 24 hours. I’m a little stunned – I think I could have actually raised the price and still sold it, but that’s okay. I’ll take $100 for little work.
So, I’ll call that a success. I am semi-disappointed that it won’t work out in our new kitchen, but Ryan’s happy to have a little more garage space and I’m happy to have a plan.
IKEA trip this weekend, folks. That means that kitchen-mania is coming soon.
Are you sad to see this sink go, too?
