I’m thankful for… chargers
I wanted to create a Thanksgiving project this week had to be quick and cheap. Ever been there?
Yeah, I thought so.
I also wanted to make something that was a little more versatile. (And, let’s be honest, I have enough – 3 – Thanksgiving banners and pennants.) I think my project fits the bill.
I was inspired by the chalkboard chargers at Tatertots and Jello. I thought, this could be a perfect thankfulness project. And when I came across a set of old plastic chargers at Reusable Usables, I was sold. Because they were plastic (plastic=light), they were less than $1 for all of them. (It’s only $1 per pound.) I had the spray paint on hand, so I just primed them and put a couple coats of chalkboard paint on them.
After drying, they were the perfect addition to the Thanksgiving table. Or really any table, because I can wipe off the chalk and start again.
I also put names on the bottom, so they double as place cards. I know, I have fabulous handwriting. 😉
So, that was my quick and simple thankfulness project. And I hope it reminded my husband that I am thankful for him. (We ate dinner at the table last night and he didn’t even notice until I pointed it out. ;))
(And, as an aside, I also bought a pack of the Chalk Ink markers at Michaels. They are AWESOME. They write like a paint pen but wipe off with water. Which comes in handy if you try to draw a Thanksgiving turkey on a charger that ends up looking like a cross between an elephant and a pheasant. You know, hypothetically.)

I didn’t get a chance to do this this week, but I’ve got table setting on my list for next week. I love your chargers Kim! They look amazing, and so fun. I’ve been reading about those chalk markers all over the place, too. Going to buy some…

Such a cute idea w/chargers! I have to admit I’m also a chalkboard paint virgin, have to work on that! I’ve had this flagged to participate in for a few weeks now (and finally got my act together!) It’s tight (10pm?) but it’s finished! Can’t wait for next week; thanks for the motivation!

Super cute Kim! Funny that Ryan didn’t notice. That would be my husband too, or he can also be the complete opposite – he’ll notice the tiniest thing immediately. 🙂 Thanks for hosting!

I love this! I especially love Amanda’s idea of using one for centerpieces, or you could even use them under your serving dishes if you’re serving buffet style!

This is why you are my idol….even a quick and cheap project you knock out of the park. What a brilliant idea!
But I have a confession….I failed this week and did not get anything together. But I will be back next week and until then will be drooling over everyone else’s projects!

I saw the chalkboard chargers idea, too, and thought of doing it. I still might, the next time I see chargers that would work.

I seriously love the chargers. Can you believe I’ve never used chalk board paint? I need to get on that.
And can you tell I’ve been sitting around waiting for you to post this?
Oh and before I forget to answer you…my rolling blog blackout comment was sarcastic. Shocker, I know. I didn’t blog for a month back in ’08. Craziness.
