First stop was Chicago. It was actually quite lovely in Chicago. All of the lights were still up.
I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this, but we stay almost exclusively in Holiday Inn Express hotels. They are nothing fancy, but they are consistently clean and nice. They have standard, down bedding and many are updated. They have free breakfast. Plus, Ryan’s a platinum member so we always get perks.
Oh yeah… and we stay free. That’s the only advantage to Ryan traveling so much. We get tons of free rooms. (And, if anyone from Holiday Inn is out there that wants to find new spokespeople, we are your folks. Have you seen Jared with Subway? How about NewlyWoodwards for Holiday Inn?)
But, Holiday Inn’s are nothing too extravagant so I don’t often take photos. And that’s okay by us. However, the Holiday Inn Express downtown Chicago was actually kinda funky. I had to share a photo of the bed. I thought it was really clever. The rooms were REALLY small, but very comfortable and functional. I liked that.
And, I liked the wallpaper in the (tiny) bathroom. Very fun. I actually think this would be a perfect background to our black hutch.
And, since the hotel was only two blocks from Michigan Avenue (and Crate & Barrel), it was more than convenient. We shopped, we ate and we walked. It was lovely.
Then, off to Galena on our anniversary.
