Since I was throwing a New Moon Premier Party on Friday, I decided to stick with this. I’m not hosting Thanksgiving and all of our fall decorations are already down in preparation for the party. Here’s what I came up with:
Dinner… Twilight-style.
I wanted the table to be dramatic. So, I started with a black tablecloth and a red runner. My aunt loaned me the lovely antique candelabra and I dripped red wax on the white candles. I found inspiration for this on the internet.
I drug out every red votive I own (which is a lot because we used them on tables at the wedding). Then, I scattered apples around (to play off the cover of Twilight). I think it turned out really fun.
We actually didn’t serve a formal, sit-down dinner, but I set up the place settings for the photo. I was making some themed food, so I thought I’d use these little cards of Edward and Bella for place cards for the table. I thought it would be funny. It was.
I even dug out my old skill of folding napkins from my past life as a catering manager.
I think all the red really looks cool. And, I think this could be modified for an elegant dinner, Halloween or even Christmas (sans the blood of course).
And, here is the overview of the different elements of the table.

Hi Kim,
I love all the candlelight on your table.
I’m really late with my DIY post, sorry. I know the mclinky is close already, so I thought I’d share here. Hope that is okay.

I will NOT be tardy next week. I already have cookies to post.
This is fun and even though I missed the link I will continue to visit the other blogs and leave comments for everyone’s hard work and wonderful ideas.

Past life as in “came to my senses and decided I no longer wanted to work crazy hours and deal with bridezillas.” Duh!
Thanks, I love the candles, too.

Those candles are TO.DIE.FOR. Or to live eternally for, since we’re talking vampires.
You “past life as a catering manager”? Is this before the Cullens “created” you? =]

I love it! You could definitely change it up just slightly for multiple holidays. All the red makes me want to get some red votives for my table.

PS. You were so right. I knew I couldn’t set the whole Thanksgiving table (that involves a leaf in our regular table, and an extra table to seat more, all of which takes up too much space in the dining room to be out all week). Anyways, I set a small table so I could participate. It was so fun to come home from dinner at my in-law’s tonight to see my table set. It makes the dining room so happy and festive! Just like you said, even if it isn’t to eat at, it’s fun to look at.

You are such an amazing hostess! You went so outrageously above and beyond with your decor for the theme; the party must have been so fun.

Love the candleabra. I have a couple just like it…they are heavy beasts…but I’ve never busted them out. This gives me ideas!
