When Ryan and I renovated the kitchen, we compromised on maple cabinets. I wanted white, Ryan wanted wood. We went with a light wood that we both like. We are both happy with the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t drool over kitchens like this.
I love the wood floors, the brick walls, the dark hardware, the island with a wood top…. Look! There’s even a pug in the kitchen. This kitchen is nearing perfection.

Since we went with maple in this house, I think that means that the next kitchen that we have will be white. Right?
Do you lean towards white kitchens or wood-tones?

He should have at least agreed to white in the small house!

In my dreams I have white cabniets, wood floors and a farmhouse sink. In reality I have yucky yellowish cabniets in a charmless kitchen.
Love your dream kitchen – its perfect. Can’t tell you one single thing about it that I don’t like.

Be still my heart! My dream kitchen is a white one w/ marble or soapstone counters, vintage light pendants, reclaimed wood floors, and an island that could be its country.
Which reminds me, I need to revise my Christmas wish list….. heh!

I like wood and white. I really like cinnamon and cherry colored cabinets, but I really, really like the white ones I have now as well. If we ever have to remodel a house in the future it will be a tough decision, because I still don’t know which I like best.

The kitchen in the picture is definitely gorgeous. I could definitely live with that. But my dream kitchen would probably have dark wood or cherry cabinets.

I’ve always had white kitchens and I love them. White never goes out of style whereas different wood tones go in and out of fashion.
The house we just moved into has the most hideous original yellowy wood cabinets from the 50s, and we can’t afford to redo the kitchen anythime soon. I could paint them, but I don’t even want to waste the energy when I know we’re going to rip them out as soon as possible.

Oh my gosh, I just adore that kitchen! It’s so gorgeous!

As a person who has white cabinets, I really wouldn’t recommend them. 🙁 I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but it’s the truth.
I constantly clean them due to the white showing every little thing.
Sometimes it’s fingerprints after reading the paper, spills, drops, and splatters.
Don’t get me wrong, they are very pretty. But a lot of work!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I think that’s fair….you can still have lots of wood tones (floor, ceiling beams etc) and white cabinets!

Never mind. I just remembered your post about your lovely kitchen. 🙂 I haven’t had my wheaties yet this morning! 🙂

That kitchen looks so warm and welcoming. Have we seen pictures of your current kitchen?
Maybe you could convince Ryan that white cabinets are sometimes cheaper than wood ones? 🙂

I love white kitchens. When I fantasy next house shop online, I always turn away from new and pretty wood kitchens because I’d feel to guilty painting those babies white. You know feel to guilty about my fantasy renovation on a fantasy next house. Never said I wasn’t complicated and slightly insane. Love that inspiration kitchen!

For years and years, I’ve been dreaming of a white white white kitchen with a seaglass backsplash…no wood tones anywhere. I can’t get it out of my head, even though it has never meshed with any house I’ve ever owned. But when we bought our new house last winter, the kitchen was brand new…with cherry cabinets. Obviously there was no way I could try to get a new kitchen anytime soon, so I’ve learned to love it. I don’t even give it the evil eye like I do with many other things at my house.
