I wanted to add a little something more on our front porch, so my husband came to the rescue (as usual). I was hoping to add some height and interest and found a few benches that I thought would be super cute. I just wanted something that I could put pots and other decorative items on, nothing to be used for actual seating.
But, they were all more than $100 and lets be honest, that seemed a little steep for something to sit on the front porch designed to create height and interest. I was keeping my eye open at flea markets and antique stores, but nothing popped up.
My patience vanished.
Enter Ryan.
I showed him three benches from JCPenney and he said, “I can do that.” And he did. (Really quickly, too. Which was nice.)
Then, he sat on it. Then, we sat on it together. Then, we both celebrated that it looked really cool and seemed incredibly sturdy. Much more sturdy than my inspiration benches… silly inspiration benches just cannot compare.
He’s a proud guy. (Ignore the mess in the background. It’s just a mirage.)
Then, I painted it and pulled out a few fall items from the basement (I haven’t had the urge to get out all the Fall-a-palooza yet. Maybe by the end of the month.)
Here it is in its new home with a few fall decor items.
I had that old cabinet door that I painted “Fall” onto as well. I just tied a little string of twine to it. I think I like it. I may add something else. Aren’t those little stakes in the planter adorable? They are made from reused pallets. Clever and cute.
How do you feel about me adding our house number to the bench? Cute or silly?
And here is the door. (On an unrelated note: I’m very disappointed in how the stain on the front porch weathered. Very poor. But, still better than it was before. I may have to put another coat of stain on the porch soon.)
So, are you impressed with Ryan’s handiwork on the bench?
I totally am. He kinda rules.

Oh, and I would definitely paint the house numbers on the bench. That would be the perfect personal touch. Numbers are so fun! : )

I LOVE it! What a great job by your husband and your decorations are just beautiful! Do you have that “W” pumpkin weighted down with anything?
I’m so jealous and it makes me want to ask my husband to make something like that… or maybe just go to the local auction and hope for something similar to do the same thing and just need a paint job… oh the ideas!!!!

Love it! This may have to be one of our next projects…hubby will be thrilled I’m sure 🙂
What kind of paint did you use?

Oh, he has skills! Send him over to make me one.
Your decorations are cute and I think your house number on the bench would be Awsome!
p.s. on your deck, did you use a semi-transparent or solid stain? I’ve found a solid stain lasts longer on areas such as deck boards or areas that get alot of sun.

I love the idea of your house number on it!
I so might have to add this to my husbands to do list!

Love it! And love your fall decor (especially the W Pumpkin). I loved my M pumpkin last year and am contemplating a funkin so I can have it longer each season – is that what you used?
I could go either way on the house number…I love numbers on things, but you might not see it much with decor around it.
