So, besides considering about the meaning of life and how our next year will shape up, the Newly Woodwards have also had a lot going on since New Years. It’s time to share…
We had a few friends over on New Year’s Eve. I made chili, bbq meatballs, veggies and dip, spinach-artichoke dip, buffalo chicken dip, oreo truffles and puppy chow.
By far, the star of the evening was the buffalo chicken dip (the yellowish dip by the veggies above). You must try it. It was sinfully delicious. Thanks for the recipe, Laura.
We had a nice time, playing Wii and Apples to Apples. And, of course…. eating.
On New Year’s Day, I spent the day taking down Christmas decorations. We also inherited some more furniture from my snowbird parents – a corner hutch and a grandfather clock. They really look nice in our dining room and the hutch gives us some added storage for our serving pieces that are too pretty to hide.
In the afternoon, my cousin Jill, her husband Josh and baby Karis came to visit our home for the first time. They live in the Boston-area, so it was wonderful to see them. This is also our first in-person meeting with the beautiful little girl. We also went to dinner after giving them the grand tour of our home.
Sidenote: This is why blogging is so cool. My cousin Jill already knew about all of our home projects from our blog. She also told me about this cool web-based service that allows you to video chat for free. Distance is no match for all the technology available.
So, this is what we have been up to. Lots of fun… How have your first few days of 2009 been?
