I was feeling inspired to monogram a pumpkin. I saw it here…and here…. and here…. These are the best tutorials that I have found. And, really they are supposed to be rather simple.
I decided to use faux pumpkins, so I could re-use them in the future and so they would last through Halloween.
I started with a lovely white pumpkin. I penciled the W (I didn’t use a stencil, it seemed too complicated. So, I just pencilled it and erased it when it needed redone). Once it was satisfactory, I used a razor blade to trace the outline of the letter. Then, I used a steak knife to cut. About a half hour later, it looked lovely. Then, I took one last cut… and this happened.
I was totally bummed. I tried glueing it back on, but to no avail. So instead of my monogrammed pumpkin, I just turned the stinker around and plopped it on the dresser. It still looks rather lovely among our bedroom items, if I do say so myself.
But, I hadn’t given up… oh, no no. I was determined to have a monogrammed pumpkin. So, I got my other faux pumpkin and went to town. I was much more careful this time, and it came out really swell. My neighbors all love it too. Here it is, chilling on the front porch with its other fall friends.
If you decide to do this yourself, remember not to use real candles in faux pumpkins. It is flammable. I’m thinking of getting the fake tealights to put in it for the fall.
Ryan, thinks I have a pumpkin addiction. What do you think?

I did a monogrammed one last year and loved it to death. I wasn’t sure if I was going to do it again. Now, I must! ๐

Emily – the white pumpkin is indeed “faux” – good luck! I think that I love the white pumpkins more than the orange… as if that is even POSSIBLE.

I adore the monogrammed pumpkin idea! It’s a shame the other one didn’t work out ๐

I love this! And that white pumpkin is fab – did you say that’s fake, too? I might have to take a little trip to Michael’s!

Sorry about the W cave-in on the pumpkin. At least you salvaged it and used it somewhere else! The second try came out great!

cute, cute, cute! bummer about the “W” though. Maybe you could do a “R” for Ryan and then I could copy it (sortof) with making a “B”.
and I figure you might as well be addicted to something – you are lucky that its cheap and not year round!

Normally, I dont’ like carving pumpkins because the seeds and stuff gross me out. But the idea of having a cutesy monogrammed pumpkin on my front porch this Halloween is slowly making me think the sacrific might be worth it ๐
